I can not believe that Ava is already 10 months old! The fact that we are now in the double digits freaks me out a little more than usual. That means we are only two months away from her first birthday!
I love taking Ava’s monthly update pictures, but every month they become a little more difficult to do. I also let time get away from me last month, and I forgot to do a 9-month picture! I am a little bummed about that. For her 10 month pictures, she did not want to stay on her back at all. I even tried to distract her with toys and snacks. I had to snap a picture quickly before she would roll over and play with the blocks.
Ava had a checkup this month. It was supposed to be a 9 month check up, but trying to get an appointment at the pediatric clinic at our Army hospital here takes so long. She didn’t need any immunizations this time around, so it was a pretty quick and easy appointment. She weighs 17 pounds 2 ounces and is 26.97 inches. She fits into 9-month clothes and still is in size 3 diapers.
Ava finally has teeth! Her two little front bottom teeth popped in around 9 Months. And not long after that her top two teeth started peeking through her gums. The two ones in the front have started to pop through and the two on the outside of them will probably be next.
Ava finally will eat something aside from breast milk! One day on a whim I just bought some baby snacks for her to try and she loved them. After that, I started giving her fruits and veggies to try. She still isn’t the biggest fan of eating food off of a spoon, but she will eat some baby food straight out of a pouch. She prefers to eat food that she can pick up and feed herself. We are having fun now finally exploring food. She still is breastfeeding in between trying food.
Ava has moved on from her signature belly crawl and now crawls on her hands and knees. She pulls her self up, and furniture surfs like it’s no body’s business. She also loves to stand up behind the sliding glass door and peek out at the backyard.
Ava has figured out how to open drawers and cabinets. She also will try to play with outlets, and anything plugged into them. Needless to say, we have had to do some major baby proofing around the house. Her favorite thing to do is go into Memphis playroom and try to take out all of his toys. Lately, she’s been dragging lightsabers and action figures into the living room to play with. I love how curious she is, I’ve just had to make sure I am paying extra attention to the things she is getting into lately.
Ava has become very social. She loves to babble, giggle and play. Also when she is hungry, and I say “milk” she gets all excited and will climb up on my lap. I’ve been working on showing her how to say “milk” and “more” in sign language. I plan on trying to learn a few more signs to teach her as well. I am hoping that by teaching her some of that, she will have an easier time communicating the things she wants or needs with us before she is talking.
10 Month Old Baby Favorites
Here are some things we have been using and loving this month!
Bapron Baby Bib: It’s a big long bib, so it helps to catch more of the mess she makes. It also goes on her arms like a little shirt. This is useful because she isn’t able to just pull it off like other bibs.
Happy Baby Organic Puffs and Happy Baby Organic Yogis: These Snacks were the first baby food things I could get Ava actually to eat.
Baby Banana Teething Toothbrush and Tom’s of Maine Training Toothpaste: We are working on getting her in the habit of brushing her teeth. This little banana toothbrush is cute, and Ava likes the taste of this baby toothpaste.
Teething Rings: These teething rings have been great for the days her gums are a little extra sore. They are little rings filled with water, so they get nice and cold in the freezer. They also don’t stay too cold for long, so I don’t have to worry about them being too cold in her hands.
Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Ribbons: I purchased these sweet potato ribbons from Trader Joe’s, and they make it fast and easy for me to give her some fresh veggies. They are just little slivers of sweet potatoes. I either put them on the stove top in the vegetable steamer or put them in the microwave with some water to soften them up. Then I just place them on her high chair tray, and she gobbles them up.
